I visited last night for the fourth time. Always consistently delicious. Their specials are fantastic. Thursday night is Polish, which is my favorite. Pizza is great as well as the burgers. The place is divey, but with food that good, who cares? If you want a great, unpretentious meal, check it out.

This is a review I did NOT want to write!!! My wife and I have been to Rogala's 3 times now. It started out with a 5 star the first visit, 4 star the 2nd visit, and now a 3 star!!! The 5 star visit was awesome, then they started running out of things like cheese sticks, etc... Let's focus on the 3 star.. Friday night, 8:30pm... We went in and it was 65% full when we got there. The waitress was quick, but you could tell she was having a bad night as she seemed flustered. We ordered our drinks, which came very light on ice and barely cold to which we were informed that the power went out earlier, and the ice had melted. Ok, that's fine, we completely understood and placed our order. We ordered the cheese sticks for an appetizer and this time they had them - awesome. I don't know what it is, but Rogala's has some great tasting cheese sticks, I don't know if it's the accompanying sauce or not! Then the disappointment came. I ordered the fish and chips for my main dish as I was told the fish was great. The waitress returned to the table and said they ran out of French Fries?!?!?!? WHAT?!?!?!?!? Come on now!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't going to settle for Fish & Baked Potato, so I ordered the cottage fries she mentioned with the fish. Well, they absolutely sucked and the fish was deep fried a bit too long! The batter was over cooked and tough and the fish was tiny little pieces, they gave me 3. Then someone must us squeezed a lemon on each one cause it was overly sweet. The lumpy tartar sauce wasn't a hit either. :( I was completely bummed. My wife got the Club Sandwich and wasn't happy with it either. :( So, needless to say, if and when we go back, we'll stick with what we know, their cheese sticks and pizza. If they have the cheese sticks that is... I think next time the power goes out, they should just close for the night, would of saved me $30.

I had the "Oak Park" which is corned beef, coleslaw, Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing on grilled pumpernickel. It was very good. Awesome onion rings for only a buck more. I will be back.

Wow! What a dive...and I love it! By the looks of the building and decor you would never know how great the food coming out of the kitchen is. And I am talking about more than bar food and burgers. They have a daily special that you would think is coming out of old Polish Grandma's kitchen at supper time. The city chicken, pizza, breaded pork chops compliment a magnificent burger and cold beers served with warmth and friendliness. If you are ever in the Garden City area, make it a point to visit old Joe at Rogala's because it is absolutely worth your time!

Good neighborhood bar. I have a good friend who lives by Rogala's and eats there at least once a week. I've been there a few times with him and have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. Rogala's is kind of like the "Cheers" of Garden City, MI.

I'm surprised I'm the first to review. Woohoo - my first first! We've been going here for years for their pizza - we always get the deep dish. 98% of the time we get the 'Strictly Italian' which has that pepperoni that curls up, ham, onions, green peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers and, the best part, Italian dressing. This pizza is amazing deep dish, but I advise you eat in because the salad part on top won't hold up well to take out or leftovers. We prefer this to Buddy's (similar type of pizza), hands down. We've tried the Taco pizza, also deep dish. But the Italian is the way to go. Compliment your pizza ($16 for 6 good-sized pieces) with a mini taco app ($7 for 12) and a pitcher of beer ($7.50), and you've found nirvana. This is a pretty traditional bar, and small (6 booths and 6 tables). We've seen other entrees go by - ribs, city chicken, prime rib - and they all look good, but we go for the pizza.

I think the more I Yelp, the rougher I get on places. Sorry, Rogala's! This was my first time in and the place is definitely small and kind of cramped if you end up being the unlucky ones to not land a spot for your butt in one of the 6 booths...which was the case yesterday. There are some tables between the booths and the bar and that's where we were seated....constant traffic walking by bumping your chair and a bit cramped conditions where you're also seated very closely with possible other people, because the tables are so close together. I guess I don't generally mind that but sometimes it can get annoying sharing elbow room with strangers who also eavesdrop on your conversation. I noticed the one time I went to NYC, a lot of restaurants are cramped and set up like this, and I am not a huge fan, but what can ya do? Beyond that, the service was a bit slow. It really wasn't their fault, there were 2 waitresses working the whole floor who probably all ordered dinner at once, and they were also behind the bar fetching drinks. At 7:00 pm on a Thursday night, the place was pretty full. Including a lovely screaming toddler in one corner that I'd have loved to whip one of the Rogala's table vases of fake flowers at. The fake flowers are a cute attempt, but I say ditch 'em, they just further clutter up the already-cramped tables. We went here for the pizza, this was my mom's call. She said they have those "little pepperonis that curl up and collect oil.." I said, "Teacup pepperonis?" I don't know that that is the technical term for them but that's what I call 'em. I don't care either way, I like most pepperonis and I've found those teacup ones don't reheat well since half the time they're already burnt when your pizza arrives. No matter, I was down. We ordered and antipasto salad and then the "Rogala's Special" pizza, round, which came with mushroom, onion, green pepper, pepperoni. I feel like I am missing a topping but whatever... The salad was good, it came with a nice Italian dressing that seemed to be fresh-made. Pizza arrived and I didn't see any teacup pepperonis...but I was secretly happy. My mom asked the waitress who said that those only come if you ask them with the "special" pizzas. WTH? Weird. Either way I didn't care but I felt bad for momz since it's clearly why she wanted this pizza. The pizza was hot and very good. Sometimes there is nothing like a good fresh restaurant pizza. I'd give the pizza at least a 4 rating. I dinged them for service, though probably not entirely the fault of the women serving that night....they took a long time just to take our order (and you know when you're hungry you're about to munch on anything in site), they didn't really check up on you much and it was difficult to get ahold of her for our check so we could leave. I did get one refill on my pop though without asking. There seemed to be a lot of older people in here ordering dinners...I think yesterday's special was some Polish fare. They had a decent menu, not too large but large enough for pretty much everyone to find something they would like. The sandwiches passing by looked rather generous. I'd go here again maybe, if I got a booth seat. LOL.

Small place, cozy atmosphere. A few of us had the deep dish pizza, which was excellent. My friend had the walleye which she said was very good.

I have driven past this place for 8 years or so finally tried them out today. I have been missing out. We got the chicken parm and the half slab of ribs. Both were amazing I'll definitely return.

THE PIZZA IS SOOOOO GOOD! Probably my favorite I have ever had, friendly waitstaff & bartenders.. However they don't have craft beer. Pretty lame considering its 2015. Lol

I won't get a cocktail here again. About 4 ounces of drink for $8. My friend's cocktail was in a glass not much bigger than a shot glass. The waitress informed me that the glass would be more full if they put ice in my drink. Um, yeah, that's called science. The food was tasty, although not the best I've ever had. I ordered the lasagna, which was decent. I wasn't wowed here.

I've been coming here since I could barley see over the booths tables! The place is a hidden gem in my eyes, always will be. Great service and hospitable. Try the burgers or the city chicken, both are always good. I love this place and will always be a regular.

This is by far the best neighborhood bar in the area. The old school decor inside is fabulous. The food is beyond compare. But the best part is the great team at this bar to serve its customers. From the kitchen to the servers they are beyond compare. You will be part of their family the first time you walk in and sit down. Hands down my favorite bar.

Nice little "Hole-in-the-Wall" neighborhood bar. As soon as you walk in, it will remind you of Cheers! The best part of this place is the Home Cooked meals! They have different daily specials, from pizza to Prime Rib. I personally love their Pork Chops! Always had great service every time I've been there. The waitress's are usually older that work there, probably why I've always gotten great service....Because they actually care, and they aren't texting or updating their Facebook page!! They must be doing something right, because this place is at least 50%+ filled every time we go in there. And it's not unusual to have to wait for seating either. So I suggest you go early!

Besides having a limited amount of seating. I would say that is the only draw back! But, if it was not yummy, seating would not be any problem. The pizza is wonderful. Do try the house special pizza with the lettuce, tomatoes, and special dressing on top of the pizza. Totally the best. Have never ever found anything similar to it any place! The polish food, which is a special, one day a week is also good. Fish on Friday, a bit greasy. But, the coleslaw was delicious! They do have wonderful salad dressing, It is their own secret. Well worth waiting for a seat!

The pizza is great. They even have the pepperonis that curl up and turn into grease bowls. The ambiance of your father's rumpus room. A delightful place to spend an evening with real people. Order a Bud Heavy for me.

This is a small, neighborhood bar that a friend said they go to. I'd met her there once for dinner and enjoyed it. Since then, I've been back 5-6 times and most times I have a hamburger and fries. Now, I LOVE Sidetrack's hamburgers and I've really never been to another place that has - in my estimation - hamburgers and fries as good as Sidetracks. As far as I'm concerned, Rogala's hamburgers come in a close second. Their fries are certainly not as good but they are good. I had a pork chop dinner one night and was pleasantly surprised by the salad served with the dinner. Instead of just lettuce and maybe an onion or a tomato, it had onions, tomatoes, carrots and I don't really remember what else but I was - as I said - very pleasantly surprised. I've never had slow service and the service is friendly since I now seem to be on a first-name basis. BTW, I usually go by myself because I'm on the way to a class. Never felt "funny" being alone.

After driving by several times and commenting on how quaint and inviting this little bar looks on the outside, we decided to stop in for lunch today. What a surprise! It is comfy and clean inside, and decorated nicely with auto memorabilia. Our waitress was very friendly, as was a regular customer that stopped in for lunch. But, the big surprise was the food - today's special was homemade city chicken and cabbage rolls, which we ordered and they were excellent. Just as good as in Hamtramack. We will stop in again to try other menu items (pizza and the Walleye were recommended) or a homemade special of the day.
